Established in 1992, Ryegate Associates has been a pioneering force in the local power industry, spearheading the operation of a state-of-the-art 20 MW wood-fired electrical power (biomass) generation facility. Our unwavering commitment to environmental sustainability is brilliantly showcased by incorporating our cutting-edge Selective Catalytic Reduction (SCR) emissions control system, effectively curbing the plant's emissions.

The Ryegate Power Generation Facility proudly boasts a dedicated team of 21 individuals, many of whom are residents deeply rooted in the community. Among our team members is a regulatory forester who diligently ensures compliance with the Vermont Harvesting Regulations, underlining our steadfast commitment to responsible forestry practices.

 

In our unwavering pursuit of sustainable energy solutions, we annually produce and deliver an impressive 250,000 tons of whole tree chips, substantially contributing to the renewable energy sector. Furthermore, our distribution of over 4,000 tons of wood ash each year finds valuable applications in various recycling programs, including creating organic fertilizer for farmers. This not only aids in waste reduction but also provides crucial support to the agricultural community, fostering a cycle of sustainability.

 

Our unwavering dedication to renewable energy is further underscored by our qualification for Renewable Energy Certificates in the New Hampshire and Connecticut renewable energy trading markets. This prestigious recognition solidifies our commitment to environmental stewardship and our relentless promotion of clean and sustainable energy sources.

 

To ensure the enduring success of our operations, we have established a long-term power purchase agreement with VEPP Inc. This strategic partnership allows us to sell the electricity generated at our facility. This collaboration seamlessly integrates our contributions into the grid, all while maintaining the utmost stability and reliability in our operations.
